[Call for Application] 2026 Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research)

Applications are now open for the 2026 Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research).

Application Procedures at Hiyoshi Campus

1. Confirmation of Eligibility
Please obtain the Application Procedures (Kobo Yoryo) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) website and confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements. Please also check the restrictions on duplicate applications.

2. Confirmation of e-Rad Registration Information
To access the KAKENHI Electronic Application System, you will need a researcher number, login ID, and password for the Cross-Ministerial Research and Development Management System (e-Rad). If you do not have these, please contact the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi. If you have forgotten your login ID or password, please refer to page 27 of the e-Rad User Manual.

3. Submission of Application and Recommendation Forms (Non-full-time researchers only)
In accordance with the "Guidelines on Eligibility for KAKENHI Applications," researchers who do not hold full-time positions at the university (e.g., Professors Emeriti, part-time lecturers, part-time Project Faculty Members, and part-time researchers) must submit an application form and a letter of recommendation prior to applying. Please review the guidelines [here], complete and seal the application and recommendation forms according to the provided examples, and submit them to the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi. If your primary affiliation is with another institution, please also submit a "Letter of Approval from Primary Institution."

4. Preparation of the Research Proposal Document
The Research Proposal Document consists of sections to be entered directly into the KAKENHI Electronic Application System and sections to be uploaded as Word files. Please prepare your proposal referring to the preparation and entry procedures published by JSPS. Ensure you download the latest Word templates from the JSPS website. Furthermore, regarding Research Integrity, from FY2024 onwards, applications cannot be submitted unless all Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators have registered their "Pledge Status" on e-Rad. Please check the registration method [here] and take the necessary action.

5. Preliminary Review of the Research Proposal by the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi
We offer a preliminary review of the "Draft Version" (Version 0) of the Research Proposal Document before it is submitted via the electronic system. Please submit the PDF of your Draft Research Proposal to the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi by the strict deadline of Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM. We will return the PDF with our comments.

6. Submission of the Research Proposal via the KAKENHI Electronic Application System
After reviewing the comments from the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi and making any necessary revisions, please submit your proposal via the KAKENHI Electronic Application System and send the PDF of the final version to the Office of Research Development and Sponsored Projects, Hiyoshi by the strict deadline of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 5:00 PM. The Mita Office will compile all applications from Keio University and submit them to JSPS.
